Where to start.......Me and my partner stayed for one night as we were visiting York for a Christmas shopping trip! I was a little worried at first of the location but the service from staff and cleanliness of the room made up for this. Food served in the bar was one of the best meals I have had for a long time, not over priced and get plenty. Breakfast was served within the bar area also, this was nice but not piping hot, could have done with beans on to warm up the bacon, apart from this I cannot fault the Windmill in any way.

The staff made us welcome from the start of our stay, they couldn't have been more helpful throughout our visit. The evening meal & full english breakfast were superb, all tastes catered for. Our room was classy, comfortable & very clean. We could only stay one night but will definitely be returning. This is a warm, friendly & huge value for money place to stay for anyone visiting the York area. Highly recommended.

Liked most things about this place, nicely decorated clean room with above average facilities and extras. Food was superb, good value for money and didnt have to eat anything else during the day after the breakfast. Special mention for the Black Sheep ale and others, enough to satisfy any camra member.

Double room was small but comfortable. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Hotel conveniently situated for York and local attractions, particularly south and east of York.

Shower head broke off.

Friendly check in, lovely room and en suite. Fab extras like a bowl of sweets and biscuits. Amazing breakfast.

Room was very warm, and when you opened window there was noise from the traffic. Shower did not drain! ( but when we mentioned on check out, the shower had only been installed one day ago - so this was the plumbers fault for not checking!)

1. Easy access to city of York. 2. The bedrooms are set back and at right angles to the main road, so the road noise is reduced. 3. Excellent choice and quality of food.

I had to mention 2 things for maintenance: 1. The roof gutter had a break in it immediately above our room, so as it was raining there was the sound of a small waterfall all night outside our room, 2. The drain in the shower had a blockage, so waste water covered our feet as we showered. When I mentioned it, on checking out, it appears that it was a known problem, and had been worked on the previous week.

Excellent foods, staff And services... We really enjoy And definetly we will stay again. Thanks for everything
